COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS

Indigenous Cochlear Implant development programme with DRDO

The Cochlear Implantation is an established and well accepted mode of rehabilitation of profoundly deaf individuals.Considering the dire necessity for the affordable cochlear implants in the country, DRDO in its laboratorieshas indigenously developed the device ‘Cochlear Implant System’ under the aegis of society for biomedicaltechnology- SMBT. The state of the art Cochlear Implant Centre- ‘Bionic Ear Centre’ at AFMC Pune hasalready successfully completed the cadaveric human trials of this implant system.
