The Department of Radiodiagnosis was formed from its forerunner - the School for Radiographers in 1948. This department has since grown in stature and today provides training to Undergraduate, Postgraduate students and Paramedical trainees. MBBS students are taught the basics of conventional radiology and imaging under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik (MUHS) syllabus. PG students undergo training for MD in Radiodiagnosis under MUHS. BSc Radiography course is conducted under the ageis of MUHS and Diploma in X-Ray technician under the ageis of IPMS-Lucknow. The department also conducts examination and training for Radiographers (Radiographers Remustering Course) and X-Ray technicians (Class-II & III)- under the directions of AMC Record Office. The department also conducts lectures for various courses like MOJCC, SDO Courses, B.Sc (Ortho) Nursing etc.
This department provides diagnostic imaging and interventional
radiology procedures to all service hospitals,
veterans
of ECHS and
civilians in Pune- Kirkee complex. It also caters for imaging
services for referred patients from CH(SC),AICTS, MH Kirkee, MH
Khadakwasala, Artificial Limb Centre, and from training
institutes of AIPT, NDA, MITS, Armed Forces Sports Medicine
Centre, CME, BEG and Army Sports Institute.
Undergraduates: Lectures in basic radiology covering all body systems are taken for V and VI term medical cadets. There is also two weeks of practical training in VI term where the students are made observers in various imaging modalities including MRI. Vertical integration programme is conducted for MBBS cadets as a part of Anatomy lectures. The Department also caters for students who choose radiology as a part of their electives in VIII term as per amended MUHS UG Training Programme.
Postgraduates: The MUHS has increased the MD (Radiodiagnosis) seats to 7 for with effect from 2011. The training Schedule for PG Residents are as follows:
Training in Radiography &special investigations, Ultrasound, Colour Doppler, Mammography, CT, MRI and DSA is done on rotation. Practical training is done at AFMC and its affiliated hospitals- CH(SC), AICTS and MH Kirkee.

The department is also actively involved in conducting various radiographer technician courses for defence personnels. The course content covers physics, radiography, anatomy and physiology, USG, CT & MRI technology.
