Armed Forces Medical College

Introduction

• The AFMC Officers’ Mess is located within the campus of Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and caters to the officers posted to the college and other allied medical units
• Customs and traditions of Mess is still in officers a strong sense of loyalty, co-operation and esprit-de-corps. Mess is the common home of all officers of a unit where they meet on equal terms, exchange ideas, and young officers learn from their elders and develop a feeling of comradeship. Irrespective of their rank, all the members must, therefore, follow the Mess Rules and take a personal pride in observing the customs of their mess, no matter how trivial these may appear to be.

Membership

The various types of membership permitted are as below:

• Permanent Members.
• Quasi-permanent Members.
• Temporary Members.
• Honorary Members.
• Dining/Non-dining members.
• Termination of membership.

Mess Committee

The Mess Committee are constituted as under. The PMC are nominated by the Chairperson. Other members are elected by the General Body Meeting, with the concurrence of Chairperson.

Mess Staff (Combatants)

The Mess have the combatant staff. They assist the Mess Committee in carrying out all activities in the Mess. These combatants are paid Extra Duty Pay as appropriate.

Mess Customs And Etiquette

All members/guests are expected to maintain decorum in the Mess premises in keeping with service traditions, customs and norms. Members will maintain the highest standards of probity and will refrain from any activity that will lower the image of the College, the Corps and the services in general. They will ensure that they are properly groomed and turned out on all occasions.
